50KM / THE ROARING
Welcome to the main event of Ecotrail Geneva, the 50 km.
This exceptional course offers participants an unforgettable experience, combining sporting challenge and scenic beauty. The start of this adventure is located on the right bank of Lake Geneva at the prestigious museum of the history of science. From the first meters, participants immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of Geneva, still asleep, a city of peace, sport and culture. quickly, the course runs alongside the white waters of the lake, the water, a sparkling traveling companion which will lead the competitors to Bois-de-la-Bâtie under the electric mists of the passage of the Jonction bridge between the rivers of the Rhône and the Arve. Then the route will take you to the border towards the French department of Haute-Savoie and this is where your mountain adventure will begin. Mont Salève, nicknamed “the balconies of Geneva” then stands before you. This particularly demanding ascent from the place called “Le Coin” with a portion of 500 D+ over 2 km will cross the Grande Gorges cave, a magical space which offers breathtaking panoramas. Arriving at the top, you will quickly be rewarded by the immensity of the landscapes as far as the eye can see over the Lake Geneva basin framed by the Alpine peaks still covered in snow with the prominent tip of Mont Blanc and the blue of the majestic Lake Geneva. Then the runners will begin their descent, a transition through the forests of Grand Salève to reach the charming village of Monnetier where a refreshment stop will await them. On the way to the cool waters of the beaches of Lake Geneva, bypassing the Petit Salève and reaching the border crossing point to travel through the picturesque Swiss villages of the Geneva countryside. In the final straight, the greenway will take you to the splendid La Grange Park where the view of the nautical area of Geneva with its sailboats and its summer atmosphere will then mark the finish line of this exceptional event at the Tropical Corner.
